A Ranch between mountains and desert.
Ranch Koiimasis lies in the Tiras Mountains on the edge of the Namib Desert - a place shaped by horses, nature and wide open spaces.

Africa meets the American West
What started as a "moonstruck" dream to bring the Western lifestyle to Africa became a reality under the hand of rancher Wulff Izko. In a landscape mirroring the cinematic vistas of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, Wulff’s passion for equine and bovine culture wasn't just a choice - it was a calling.
In the early days, a herd of a hundred wild horses were the only mounts available. Putting miles on their backs was a trial by fire; to say things got "a little Western" would be an understatement. Seeking a more composed partner without losing the ruggedness of the wild stock, Wulff’s research led him to the American Quarter Horse.
The Hardy Quarter horse
Beginning with the stallion Jabaroan, we spent 15 years meticulously blending the Quarter Horse’s natural composure with the wild instincts of the ranch herd. The result is the Hardy Quarter Horse: a resilient, human-tolerant athlete built for the African bush.
Traditional Horsemanship
Our training is rooted in the Californio/Vaquero tradition. We don’t just "break" horses; we build a partnership where horse and rider move as one. Whether it’s cattle doctoring, roping, or cutting, every horse is schooled to be a versatile, sound, and willing worker.
Our foundation is built on the wisdom of the greats:
-
Jaqueline Nadler (Ray Hunt lineage)
-
Martin Black (Cow-horse confidence)
-
Mark & Miranda Lyon (Cowboying wisdom)
This is more than a training method, it’s a lifestyle.

"There is nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse."
